2023/08/26, Alderstead Heath Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite

Left Burgess Farm after finishing helping Lawrence and Lorna unpack. Left them to unbox and put away.

Great house hope they’ll be happy there.

Day 1, Bladon Chains

CMC 23.01 used a voucher. Lots of rain in the way down, but no hold ups.

Stopped at Bicester, filled up with petrol, lots of new building and changes. Looking prosperous.

Clumber Park, post lockdown

What a contrast to Lyndon Top, full when we got here at about 16:30. No hardstanding just grass pitches, only a few of them.

All well organised, clever bracelet system for showers and toilets. Bit wary of everything but that is just the number of people, not sure what we expected but less people I suppose.

Went for a long walk, about 6 miles or so. Ended up in Clumber Park by the lake, eventually found a cafe serving a coffee, best we have had for awhile.

Having pizza for tea with a coleslaw homemade(ish).

Discovered that our left hand side lounge window has started a leak again. Emailed SMC so that it has been registered. Put some tape on it for the time being. Not sure why it has started again but it has, needs sorting properly.

Our pitch.

Nice site, good walks for dogs, facilities as they are are good, very neat and tidy, near the road but quiet at night. Being on a bend crossing the road from the site need to be careful.

Issue for Motorhomes, we use a 6.4m motorhome and only just managed to fit on a hardstanding pitch, the hardstanding pitches are small (very small), some are much bigger but obviously more popular. It is impossible to pitch in the traditional manner of car, van, awning and gap, just not possible. The difference in the awning and non awning pitch size is negligible. Grass pitch sizes are better but Motorhomes discouraged from using when we went, although very firm and not sloping.

We would stay again as nice site and for us a good location but disappointed by the pitch size.
