4.6.16 Le treport to La Mailleraye sur Seine to Mamers

Awoke about 9am, to seagulls, breakfasted and then off to the train for Geza
CBT, had a wander round the market and bought some veg, then back to tha van to
clear up and head out for fuel and supplies. The service point was new and
required a card to pay for the ticket and for drinking water and electric. An
english couple who had been in Spain since Feb and just on their way back were
using the water point, it give a lot of water in fact they filled their tank and
every container in the van, there were alot, apparently this is unheard of value!
We set off for LeClerc, which is smallish but adequate, then filled with fuel
and headed of for La Mailleraye sur Seine, the route tooks us around Rouen
rather than through it. It is a lovely Aire and one we shall try to get to on
the way back sadly half of it was cordoned off and the other half full!! Tried
to persuade a acouple to move but apparently they wanted to risk the imending
flood. Everybody had an opinion of where we should go, Gace was heavily promoted
but we stuck with our plan B and headed to Mamers.
Also decided to change the routing on the SatNav to not avoid Toll roads, this
cut our journey by 1 hour and involved a 125km trip on the toll road, I had been
apprehensive as we are 4.25t and over 3m each meaning class 3 and therefore 50%
more expensive. However one Teller and one automated machine decided class 2
and although not a bargain, but a 30% saving!!
We found Mamers Aire de Camping Car by following the Sat Nav and the signs, it
is just as described in the All the Aires book, however to get in you need a
code to get a code you have to contact various people one being the Municipal
Camp site 200m up the road, so we popped in there and sorted it all out 7.35
euro for 24hrs elec water etc… a very nice quiet site, the Campsite is ACSI
and we later found out 11.50 euro lwhihc we may have gone for.
Lessons learnt today we can use tolls and are justified in arguing we are class
2 although no idea why, secondly always check your options when paying for an
aire at a campsite.
Tomorrow we may head for Angers or somewhere else, the weather was misty this
morning bit warmer as we went south, and almost humid in Mammers. There was a
Rock concert in the square tonight with a blues band and a rock band playing
British Rock music, went for a beer and a listen but sadly prefer my music when
completely pissed or sat in a warm armchair.
