Day 7, Vinya Els Vilars, Arbec

Left the free aire, full and empty.  The EHU went off at some point in the evening and did not come back on disappointing.

We decided to head off via the Simpler tunnel having googled D934 France to check the suggested route, 2nd result was dangerousroads.org apparently it is a famous overhang road and not for the faint hearted so we have given it a miss.

Somport tunnel is a great route easy and fast with little hassle Spanish side is much better than French.

We stopped for a coffee and discovered the temp had risen to 22c.  Filled with some petrol and decided to head for the next Aire.  This was a carpark with some facilities outside a police station, but was in a poor state of repair and a bit too close to a main road.

Onto the next, which was a free vineyard near Arbrec, Vinya Els Vilars, free everything, toilet, wash basins etc…

And they sell wine not cheap wine so 2 red, 1 white and and oil 59€.

Lovely tea, cooked and eaten outside whilst our bread cooked inside.

Bruges 2018

Decided to pop over the channel for a little tour of places bookmarked over the last few weeks. The plan was to goto Bruges and then maybe Amsterdam.

Booked the tunnel in Tuesday, for travel on the Thursday 11:40 slot gave us time to get to Bruges and then get settled. Jacqui had a book club and I had mower pickup and some minor work issues, so Thursday was easiest, decided to co e back in the following Wednesday as we have the MHF Maypole meet the following weekend.

Journey to tunnel was very easy although a bit tedious, will interesting when a one way ticket is our option and may choose return by another means.

There was minor delay loading but we were underway about 15 minutes late, as we left train pulled over at services and turned gas on. Set off to Bruges.

Again journey was easy roads relatively clear, till Bruges it self. Road surface quality also changes in Belgium they seem to favour concrete slabs for a lot of the roads as opposed to tarmac, very noisy, bit like M6 Birmingham.

Found the kamper stop, glorified car park between a ring road, boat moorings and bus/coach park. Get a ticket on entry and then drive through and park up, picked a corner spot door opening on hedge and boat moorings other side.

Electric provided but only 6amp, each socket is numbered so plugged into 16 which was empty but no power, initially thought it was only certain time but basically socket 16 did not work, so used a spare socket, this seems a common thing.

Power sorted we decided to walk into Bruges, it is less than 10 minutes, very easy lots of people about. Mainly tourists, seems a popular place. We had a good wander around a beer, Stew and beer, half man brewery had Beers and Flemish Stew and Chips, very good.

Next day decided to do some culture so Churches Sint Salvatore, fantastic stained glass and Museum Historium tour life in Bruges, interesting but the VR tour waste of money and a free Beer in the Duuvelorium bar. Sunny in the pm so got bikes out and had a trip round the canals.

Chilli and tacos in the van and started Gotham.

Decided to move on the next day to the tulip fields and Dutch coast South of Amsterdam, if rubbish then could head for the city.

Aire at Rugles

Aire at Rugles, quite tight car park, again Starred site.

Woke in Sainte-Maure-de-Torraine, picked up the bread, emptied all water and filled up with retasted clean water took ages. Geza and Jacqui had been up every hiyrs as he had been vomiting and diarrhoea, last vomit was at 5am. Since then just watery diarrhoea, bit concerned by him but he was still drinking some water so we were happy to let it runs it’s course.

St Maure De Torraine

St Maure De Torraine

Private campsite, 4 euro then prices for everything else, very quiet. Costs us 11 euro with a good baguette. Water OK! Free WiFi very good. Caretaker very friendly.

Stopped after visiting the vet (Dr Sylvie, 17 Rue de Robinerie) in the town which looked good, big Intermarche, small superu and lots in between. Dog cost 25.66 Inc tablets so very reasonable.

Dog walks possible woods and country lanes, also able to long walk into town.

Meuzac

30 Rue Notre Dame

Meuzac, Starred aire by the lake free, water however was tainted fluoride again. Good God walks round lake easy access to town bugger all in it boulangerie, boucherie, bar tabac, closed restaurant time of year.

Dog barked all night, not Geza, it was in the residential area behind us.

Needed blocks, only us when we arrived but very popular, so park defensively, best spot by the bins just back from them or by the posts near the play ground.

Restaurant bar by the lake but closed out of season.

Caumont sur Gironde

Caumont Sur Gironde

Left Gastes about 1100, stopped at the local shop, only open in the morning. Picked Caumont sur Gironde as it has a Rose Mark, again very pretty. Met a British couple 3 weeks into their 1 year tour, lucky people.

Very hot so spent most of the day sunbathing and chilling out. JACQUI has a headache and is a bit snappy but she cannot help it, without the puffer.

Phoned a vet booked him in for Thursday 3pm we think, with Dr Sylvie insurance Saint Maureen de Torraine, so has idled another Rose Mark site for tomorrow Meuzac. We shall see.

Walked into town nothing Nada, no shops, bread machine though, may try it tomorrow??

Camping L’arbre dOr

Parentis En Born

Left Spain with sun shining or will be later, decided to head France and a one of the lakes Camping L’arbre d’Or, arrived just after 1400 as the receptions was opening there was a queue to book in, it was recommended by Acsi, camping cheques etc.. so must be good. The camping cheque was the cost for one night it was smallish site good pools and a bar (closed).

Told to pitch where we wanted, so drove round all the trees need cutting back as the roof got a good brushing, there were a lot of free pitches but it was tricky to work how they aligned. Eventually we decided on one away from everyone else, turns out it was not a pitch but it was big and we were happy-ish.

That evening we had a large piece of pork a bit like cote de porcelain, tried out 3 BBQ, cadac, buzzler and an instant. Not going to use instant again.

Camping Municipal Le Galan

Camping Municipal le Galan

Left campilo a bit late and and a long drive, ahead we headed for a Hyperu which we were sure would have a knife sharpener, fire lighters, wine and loads of other essentials.

Stopped and had a coffee via the inverter fantastic even if I say so myself, bloody fantastic!!!

Drove through rain and drizzle for most of the day, when we arrived the rain had stopped and although cloudy it was warm sat outside drinking and snacking prior to a meal of Peallea (??) almost OK.
